Our Commitment to World-Class Standards
Terms & Compliance
At ConstructAfrica, we operate under the highest standards of legal, regulatory, and ethical compliance. Our commitment extends to technology and data infrastructure, ensuring secure, reliable, and high-performance systems that protect privacy, maintain accessibility, and safeguard sensitive information. By adhering to global regulations, including GDPR, and maintaining rigorous operational and technical standards, we give our subscribers and partners the confidence that every insight and interaction on our platform is safe, trustworthy, and world-class.
Structured research. Trusted intelligence. Integrity without compromise.
At ConstructAfrica, the quality of our intelligence begins with the quality of our research.
We provide construction and infrastructure intelligence across African markets, helping businesses understand projects, identify opportunities, assess market activity and make better-informed commercial decisions. Delivering that intelligence requires a disciplined approach to sourcing, verification, classification, monitoring and content production.
Our research operations are built around structured methodologies, consistent data standards, evidence-led assessment and professional integrity. From identifying an early-stage project to tracking a major development through construction and completion, we apply a systematic approach to building, maintaining and presenting industry intelligence.
We believe that credible market intelligence must be accurately researched, consistently structured, responsibly obtained and continuously maintained. These principles underpin our work and our commitment to serving the industry as a trusted source of intelligence on Africa’s construction and infrastructure markets.
1. Research Methodology & Quality Control
ConstructAfrica follows a structured research process designed to produce consistent, relevant and decision-useful intelligence across countries, sectors and project stages.
Our work goes beyond collecting announcements and published information. Research involves identifying relevant developments, assessing source credibility, establishing project details, verifying key facts, structuring information and monitoring changes over time.
Our methodology is guided by five core principles:
- Accuracy: We assess information carefully, with attention to factual correctness, consistency and context.
- Source credibility: We consider the origin, authority, reliability and relevance of information before incorporating it into our intelligence.
- Consistency: Standardised definitions, classification criteria and research procedures support meaningful comparison across markets.
- Traceability: Research is grounded in identifiable sources and supporting evidence, enabling information to be assessed in context.
- Ongoing review: New developments, additional evidence and identified discrepancies inform the review and refinement of existing records.
These principles guide our work across project research, company intelligence, news, expert commentary, market analysis and other content produced for ConstructAfrica.
2. Information Sourcing & Verification
Reliable intelligence begins with credible information. ConstructAfrica draws on a range of sources to develop a comprehensive understanding of construction and infrastructure activity across Africa.
These include official government and agency publications, public procurement and tender notices, project owners and developers, contractors, financiers, consultants, company announcements, regulatory disclosures, industry publications and direct engagement with relevant stakeholders.
We combine publicly available information with primary research and additional source investigation where appropriate. This allows us to identify developments that may not be comprehensively documented in a single source and to build a more complete picture of projects and the organisations involved.
Information is assessed in context, not accepted at face value.
Our research considers the credibility of the source, the nature of the information, the date and circumstances of its publication, and its consistency with other available evidence. Material project details—including scope, investment value, location, stage, milestones and participating organisations—receive particular attention.
Where appropriate, information is cross-checked against independent sources or followed up through further research. We distinguish between official announcements, reported developments, preliminary plans and confirmed milestones wherever the available evidence permits.
A proposed project is not automatically treated as a project under construction. An announced investment is not automatically treated as committed expenditure. A company mentioned in connection with a project is not automatically classified as an appointed participant.
Where evidence is incomplete, conflicting or subject to change, information is assessed accordingly. Our objective is to represent the strongest available understanding of a development without overstating what is known.
3. Project Classification & Data Structure
A consistent classification system is essential to making project intelligence searchable, comparable and analytically useful across different countries and sectors.
ConstructAfrica uses OmniClass as the basis for its project classification approach, adapted and refined for the characteristics of African construction and infrastructure markets.
OmniClass provides a structured classification framework developed for the North American construction industry. Our approach builds on that foundation while tailoring categories and definitions to the regional context and the range of projects covered by ConstructAfrica.
This allows us to apply a consistent data structure across diverse markets without relying uncritically on a framework designed for a different geographic and industry context.
Projects are researched and classified using relevant attributes, including:
- Sector and sub-sector: The principal industry, infrastructure or construction activity.
- Geography: Country and regional location.
- Scope and characteristics: The nature of the development, its components, capacities and other defining details where available.
- Project stage: The project's position in its development and procurement journey, from early planning and design through bidding and execution.
- Project status: Its current reported condition, such as ongoing, upcoming, on hold, cancelled or complete, where applicable.
- Commercial attributes: Available project values, capital expenditure estimates, timelines, tenders and key milestones.
- Ownership type: Relevant distinctions such as government, private and public-private partnership ownership, where supported by available information.
Our classification approach is designed to make information more consistent and useful across the region while accommodating differences in terminology, project structures, procurement practices and market maturity.
The result is a structured foundation for searching, filtering, comparing and analysing projects across countries, sectors, stages and investment ranges.
4. Company Intelligence & Project Relationships
Understanding a project means understanding the organisations behind it.
ConstructAfrica researches companies involved in construction and infrastructure activity, establishing their connections to projects and identifying their roles where supported by available evidence.
These relationships may include project owners, developers, sponsors, financiers, main contractors, subcontractors, consultants, architects, operators and other relevant participants.
We distinguish between confirmed roles, reported involvement and potential participation wherever the evidence allows. A company’s experience in similar projects does not, by itself, establish that it is involved in a particular development.
Company names, project associations and other relevant details are assessed and updated as new information becomes available. This structured approach helps users understand not only individual projects and organisations, but also the commercial relationships and networks that connect them.
By linking project intelligence with company information, ConstructAfrica supports a deeper understanding of the market and helps users identify relevant clients, partners, competitors and business development opportunities.
5. Project Monitoring & Information Updates
Construction projects evolve. Scope, financing, procurement, timelines, contractors and implementation status can change significantly between an initial announcement and completion.
ConstructAfrica maintains project intelligence through ongoing monitoring and research, incorporating new information as developments become known and can be assessed.
Updates may cover:
- Changes in project scope, value or specifications.
- Movement between project stages and changes in status.
- Procurement activity, tenders and contract awards.
- Planned, revised and actual milestones.
- Changes in project ownership, financing or participating organisations.
- Construction progress, delays, suspension, cancellation and completion.
- Other developments materially affecting the understanding or commercial relevance of a project.
Our approach is driven by developments and new evidence, rather than superficial refresh cycles.
The timing and frequency of updates depend on the project, its stage, the significance of developments and the availability of reliable information. A major project entering procurement may require different monitoring priorities from an early-stage proposal with limited public activity.
Information reflects the latest credible evidence available to us and is not necessarily updated in real time. We continue to monitor relevant developments so that our intelligence can reflect material changes as they emerge.
6. Coverage, Information Currency & Client Research Support
Africa’s construction and infrastructure markets are diverse, dynamic and often challenging to research. Project information may be fragmented across multiple sources, developments may occur without comprehensive public announcements, and key details—including the people responsible for projects—may be difficult to establish or keep current.
ConstructAfrica continually works to maximise the breadth, completeness, accuracy and currency of its intelligence. Nevertheless, some projects may not yet be identified, individual records may contain gaps, circumstances may have changed, and some details may be unavailable or difficult to verify independently.
Our commitment is to pursue the highest practical standards of coverage and information quality, while actively helping clients address their research needs.
6.1. Research support beyond the platform
Our relationship with clients extends beyond the information already available on the platform. We welcome and encourage clients to contact our research team whenever they identify a potentially missing project, incomplete or outdated information, a detail that requires verification, or a need for additional research.
Clients can ask us to investigate matters including:
- Missing projects and developments: Researching projects that clients believe should be covered or that are relevant to their business interests.
- Incomplete or changing information: Reviewing available evidence and investigating missing details, discrepancies or new developments.
- Project contacts and decision-makers: Identifying relevant project managers, procurement managers and other contacts according to the client's objectives and the project's stage.
- Contact verification and alternative contacts: Checking available contact information, investigating potential changes and seeking alternative contacts where possible.
- Additional project and company research: Investigating specific details, organisations, roles or other information that could help a client assess or pursue an opportunity.
6.2. Research tailored to your business needs
The most relevant contact is not necessarily the same for every client. A supplier, contractor, consultant, investor or service provider may need to reach different people within the same project, depending on its scope, stage and the products or services being offered.
Project managers and procurement managers are common starting points for contact identification, but clients may need other technical, commercial, operational or executive decision-makers. We welcome these requests and can investigate the most relevant contacts according to the client's specific interests and objectives, subject to information availability.
Contact information is particularly challenging to maintain as responsibilities change, projects progress and organisations evolve. We therefore treat contact research as an ongoing effort rather than a guarantee that every contact will always be available, current or appropriate for every commercial purpose.
Our goal is to help clients move from identifying an opportunity to understanding whom they may need to engage—and to support that process when further research is required.
6.3. A responsive research team, working with you
Our clients can communicate directly with us to flag issues, ask questions and request further investigation. We take these enquiries seriously, work to respond promptly and apply our research capabilities to provide useful outcomes based on the information available.
Where a request requires additional investigation, we assess what can reasonably be established and communicate our findings. Although every request cannot guarantee a definitive answer, we aim to help clients make progress wherever further research is possible.
This two-way relationship also helps us understand clients’ evolving business development needs and identify opportunities to improve the intelligence we provide.
Your subscription is more than access to information. It is an ongoing relationship with a research team committed to helping you make better use of that intelligence.
This responsive research support is an important part of the ConstructAfrica client experience, complementing the platform with direct access to a team focused on supporting clients’ business development, decision-making and growth.
7. Editorial Standards & Analytical Integrity
ConstructAfrica's news, expert opinions, research and market analysis provide context beyond individual project records. They help users understand industry developments, assess market conditions and interpret their commercial significance.
Our content approach is guided by factual accuracy, relevance, source quality, clarity and responsible representation.
We distinguish between factual reporting, expert opinion and analysis. Published statements and source material are considered in context, and conclusions are not presented as established facts where the available evidence does not support them.
Expert commentary provides valuable industry perspectives, but opinions and forecasts are treated as such. Analytical interpretation is intended to inform decision-making, not to create an impression of certainty where uncertainty remains.
We aim to represent developments and organisations fairly, preserve the context of the information we use and avoid presenting speculation, unverified claims or promotional statements as independently established facts.
Our purpose is to provide useful perspective while preserving the integrity of the underlying information.
8. Ethics, Independence & Anti-Corruption
Trust is not simply a quality of intelligence. It is a principle governing how that intelligence is obtained and delivered.
ConstructAfrica is committed to conducting its research and business activities with honesty, independence, fairness and professional integrity.
We believe that businesses operating in African construction and infrastructure markets deserve access to credible intelligence obtained through legitimate research—not information shaped by improper influence, undisclosed interests or corrupt practices.
Our ethical commitments include:
- Zero tolerance for bribery and corruption: We are committed to conducting research and business without improper payments, inducements or influence.
- Research independence: Research and factual assessments should be guided by available evidence and professional judgement, not pressure to favour a particular company, project or stakeholder.
- Legitimate information gathering: We use appropriate research methods and respect applicable laws, confidentiality obligations and relevant restrictions on information access and use.
- Fair and responsible representation: We distinguish established facts from allegations, opinions and unverified claims, and take care in how organisations, projects and individuals are represented.
- Integrity in commercial relationships: We are committed to honest dealings and responsible business conduct in our interactions with clients, partners, information sources and other stakeholders.
- Accountability: Concerns regarding the accuracy of information or the integrity of our work are taken seriously and may be raised for review.
We recognise that obtaining consistent, timely and independently verifiable information can be challenging in some markets. This makes disciplined research, credible sourcing and ethical conduct particularly important.
ConstructAfrica is committed to being a trusted, corruption-free alternative for construction and infrastructure intelligence across African markets. Our approach is grounded in evidence-led research, legitimate sourcing and professional independence. We believe reliable intelligence should help businesses make decisions on merit, with greater transparency and a clearer understanding of the opportunities and risks before them.
9. Responsible Information Management & Use
The integrity of market intelligence also depends on how information is handled, structured and presented.
ConstructAfrica aims to maintain clear distinctions between source information, reported developments, research findings, estimates and analytical interpretation. Data is organised to support consistent understanding and comparison, with appropriate care given to confidential, commercially sensitive and personal information.
We respect applicable legal requirements and relevant restrictions governing the collection, use and disclosure of information. The fact that information is accessible does not automatically mean it can be reproduced or used without limitation.
Our intelligence is intended to support market research, business development, strategic planning and informed commercial decisions. It should be used in conjunction with appropriate independent checks and professional judgement, particularly before material investment, procurement or contractual decisions are made.
10. Review, Corrections & Continuous Improvement
No dynamic project market can be represented accurately through a one-time collection of information. New evidence emerges, project circumstances change and earlier reports may be revised or superseded.
ConstructAfrica's research approach therefore includes ongoing monitoring, reassessment of information when new evidence becomes available, and review of identified discrepancies.
Where a material inaccuracy is brought to our attention, it can be submitted for assessment and appropriate correction. We welcome relevant information and constructive feedback that can improve the accuracy, completeness and usefulness of our intelligence.
Our commitment is to keep improving the research practices, classification structures and information quality that underpin our work.
Our Commitment
Trusted intelligence begins with trusted research.
ConstructAfrica brings together project intelligence, company relationships, market developments and analysis to help businesses navigate Africa’s construction and infrastructure markets with greater clarity.
That responsibility requires more than collecting information. It requires structured research, credible sourcing, consistent classification, ongoing monitoring, responsible content production and uncompromising professional integrity.
It also requires a willingness to engage with clients, investigate their questions and help them make the most of the intelligence available to them.
These principles underpin our work and our commitment to the businesses, investors and industry stakeholders who rely on ConstructAfrica to understand the market, identify opportunities and make better-informed decisions.
