The Federal Ministry of Transportation, Nigeria, is developing the Kano-Maradi Railway, a key infrastructure project designed to enhance trade and connectivity between Nigeria and Niger Republic.

- Branch Line: 93 km from Dutse (Jigawa State) to Kano
- Total Length: 377 km
- States Covered: Kano, Jigawa, and Katsina in Nigeria, extending to Maradi in Niger

- Railway Construction
- Standard gauge railway (1,435 mm)
- Double-track line to facilitate freight and passenger transport
- Electrification-ready design for future upgrades
- Stations & Infrastructure
- 12 railway stations at: Dutse, Gaya, Wudil, Kano, Dambatta, Kazaure, Daura, Shargale, Marshi, Katsina, Jibia, and Maradi
- Modern passenger terminals and freight depots
- Railway maintenance and service facilities
- Supporting Infrastructure
- Rail bridges, culverts, and tunnels where required
- Signaling, telecommunications, and traffic control systems
- Border control and customs clearance facilities
