The Trans-Caledon Tunnel Authority (TCTA) will be developing the Berg River Voëlvlei Augmentation Scheme (BRVAS). The project comprises abstraction works on the Berg River, including a diversion weir, sediment traps, and a 5 MW pump station. Additionally, it involves the construction of a 6.3 km bulk water pipeline from the Berg River to Voëlvlei dam, appurtenant works such as a canoe-fishway chute, a saddle embankment for flood risk management, and an access road. The project also includes providing electricity supply and associated installations to energize the new pump station, as well as measures to mitigate the impact of the project on the environment.
