Integrated Water Security and Sanitation, Senegal

The Integrated Water Security and Sanitation Project in Senegal is a large-scale initiative aimed at improving access to safe water and sanitation, while also enhancing resilience to climate-related risks such as floods and droughts. 

  • Restoration of Strategic Water Resources: Includes activities such as restoring depleted or polluted sources, especially at Lac de Guiers, and improving groundwater recharge and management in areas like Diass and Littoral Nord.
  • Nature-Based Solutions (NBS): Implementation of retention systems, soil restoration, and landscaping to enhance groundwater recharge and restore aquifers.
