Project Pipeline

The Côte d’Ivoire Water Security and Sanitation Support Program aims to improve water and sanitation infrastructure across the country, particularly in rural and underserved areas. 

• Construction of 50,000 sustainable household latrines in rural communities to improve sanitation coverage and reduce open defecation.
• Upgrading and construction of improved toilets in 200 schools and 100 health centers, ensuring access to safe sanitation in public institutions.
• Water and sanitation assets are designed and constructed with climate-resilient features to withstand the impacts of climate change, such as increased flooding or drought.
• Expansion and rehabilitation of water supply infrastructure, including boreholes, pumps, and distribution networks, to ensure reliable access to safe drinking water in targeted regions.
• Incorporation of nature-based solutions for climate adaptation and mitigation, such as improved drainage systems and sustainable management of water resources.
• Renewal and maintenance of existing water and sanitation assets, with contracts ensuring long-term operability and sustainability.
• Construction of monitoring and evaluation facilities and the establishment of local management bodies to oversee the operation and maintenance of new infrastructure.
• Construction of training centers and the provision of equipment for local authorities and community members to manage and maintain the new infrastructure.
