The Ministry of Works and Transport in Tanzania has unveiled plans for the Second Tanzania Intermodal and Rail Development Project (TIRP-II), set to span between Dar es Salaam and Isaka . As a pivotal phase of the Tanzania Intermodal Rail and Development Plan (TIRP), this initiative entails the refurbishment or rehabilitation of approximately 470 kilometers of railway track along with the implementation of climate resilience measures like flood control systems. Moreover, this project forms an integral component of Tanzania's broader investment strategy in rail infrastructure, which encompasses the construction of a Standard Gauge Railway linking the Port of Dar es Salaam to neighboring nations.
