The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) is set to undertake the development of the Dongo Kundu SEZ berth in Mombasa, Kenya, adopting a public-private partnership framework. This initiative is part of the broader objective to establish a free trade zone in the region. The first phase of the Dongo Kundu Berth will span 300 meters in length and have a depth of minus 15 meters.Situated on a vast 3,000-acre expanse, the Dongo Kundu SEZ is a multifaceted project encompassing diverse components such as a free port, industrial parks, free trade zones, logistics and warehousing facilities, energy project areas, as well as spaces dedicated to tourism and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions). The comprehensive development plan underscores the ambition to create a dynamic economic hub, fostering trade, industry, and various other sectors. The incorporation of a public-private partnership model signifies a collaborative approach to realizing the potential of the Dongo Kundu SEZ for the benefit of both the public and private sectors.
