Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is set to embark on the development of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) infrastructure in Phase 5 within Dar es Salaam, known as the BRT Phase V project in Tanzania. This comprehensive initiative involves the creation of two trunk corridors, totaling 25.6 km in length, and includes the construction of Mandela and Mabagala roads (16.5 km) with 23 stations, as well as the construction of Tabata Kigogo road (9.9 km) with 13 stations. The project has dual objectives. Firstly, it aims to ensure inter-modality between the BRT and other modes of transport, achieved through the construction of 7 feeder stations and the commissioning of 6 feeder routes. Secondly, the project focuses on enhancing the Port Access Road with a 3 km extension, aligned with the BRT corridor on Mandela Road. The overall development will be divided into two lots to facilitate effective implementation.
