New Kampala-Jinja Expressway, Uganda
Build the new Kampala-Jinja Expressway (KJE), which is part of the Northern Corridor linking Kenya’s Port of Mombasa to the landlocked countries of Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)
Section 1: Build the Kampala Southern Bypass, which is a 20 km dual-carriage urban expressway with four lanes forming a bypass to the south of Kampala City; design speed will be up to 100 km per hour. Over 12 km of road will traverse through swamps and be elevated on a viaduct. The route will allow connection to junctions through four interchanges and roads over bridges for links. It is expected partly to be fenced to allow limited access with lighting and provisions for toll plazas
- Section 2: Build the 35 km first section of the Kampala-Jinja Expressway from Kampala to Namagunga as a dual-carriage urban expressway with six lanes; design speed will be up to 120 km per hour
