The Cameroon Transport Sector Development Project is a national program that aims to strengthen Cameroon’s capacity for transport planning, improve the efficiency and safety of road transport on the strategic Babadjou–Bamenda section of the Yaoundé–Bamenda corridor, and enhance safety and security at selected airports across the country.
Its scope combines institutional and planning support, rehabilitation and upgrading of approximately 35 km of interurban road between Babadjou and the entrance to Bamenda, construction and improvement of urban road sections and bypasses within Bamenda, and targeted investments in airport infrastructure, equipment, and emergency operations centers to bring facilities closer to international safety and security standards.
The project also finances studies, capacity building, social communication and grievance‑redress mechanisms, and monitoring activities (including gender‑based violence risk mitigation), positioning it as both a hard‑infrastructure and institutional‑reform operation intended to improve connectivity, resilience, and transport service quality in Cameroon’s North‑West region and the wider national network.
