The Lesotho Lowlands Water Development Project Phase II (LLWDP-II) is a large-scale water infrastructure initiative designed to enhance access to clean and reliable water supply and sanitation services in four key zones (2, 3, 6, and 7) of Lesotho’s Lowlands region—covering the urban centers of Maputsoe, Hlotse, Mafeteng, and Mohale’s Hoek, along with nearby settlements.
The project’s primary goal is to ensure water security for communities and industries while boosting climate resilience and sustainable socio-economic development in these regions.
Its scope includes the construction of new water intake structures, transmission pipelines, water treatment plants, reservoirs, and distribution systems, supported by institutional capacity-building for the Water and Sewerage Company (WASCO).
