The Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport (JMN) Expansion Project in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, is being spearheaded by the Airports Company of Zimbabwe (ACZ) to modernize the airport and boost its capacity for both passenger and cargo operations. The project aims to accommodate larger wide-body aircraft, improve safety and service standards, and position the airport as a key regional hub. In addition to passenger infrastructure upgrades, the plan includes developing dedicated cargo handling facilities to support exports such as meat and horticultural products.
Runway Extension: Extend the existing runway from 2.58 km to 4.5 km, adding approximately 1 km at each end to handle larger aircraft such as the Boeing 777 and Airbus A350.
