Rumphi Water Supply and Sanitation Improvement, Malawi

The Rumphi Water Supply and Sanitation Improvement Project in Malawi aims to significantly enhance water supply, sanitation, and solid waste management services in Rumphi District and parts of Northern Mzimba. 

  • Upgrade and expand water supply (treatment plant from 1,500m³/day to 19,415m³/day)
  • Install 323km of pipelines
  • Build reservoirs (total 7,350m³)
  • Construct sewage systems and public sanitation facilities
  • Develop a landfill for solid waste management
  • Conduct extensive catchment reforestation activities (target: 700,000 trees planted).
