The Mkhondvo Ngwavuma Water Augmentation Programme (MNWAP) in Eswatini is a strategic initiative designed to increase agricultural productivity and economic development by providing a reliable water supply for irrigation.
The project focuses on constructing key water infrastructure, including dams at Mpakeni on the Ngwavuma River and at Mahamba Gorge and Ethemba on the Mkhondvo River, along with associated water conveyance systems to irrigation areas.
The project involves phases of feasibility studies, detailed design, environmental impact assessments, construction, and downstream irrigation development covering thousands of hectares in the Shiselweni Region.
