The Horn of Africa Initiative's Regional Economic Corridor Project focuses on upgrading the Addis-Djibouti Corridor, a vital trade route between Ethiopia and Djibouti. The core scope involves transforming 142 kilometers of road from Miesso to Dire Dawa into a four-lane motorway, enhancing transport capacity, safety, and efficiency to support Ethiopia’s access to the Port of Djibouti, which handles over 90% of the country’s maritime trade. In addition to the road upgrade, the project includes improvements to local infrastructure such as secondary roads, and community facilities in education, health, and water access.  It also includes local community infrastructure enhancements like access to education, health, water, and secondary roads. linking to the corridor.
