The Road Sector Support Project in Ethiopia is a multi-phase infrastructure project that focuses on constructing, upgrading, and maintaining thousands of kilometers of roads across federal, regional, and local networks.
Key components include the construction of new roads and expressways, enhancement of existing corridors such as the Modjo-Hawassa trade route with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and digitization of tolling and traffic management systems.
Beyond physical infrastructure, the project also covers institutional strengthening, road asset management, climate resilience improvements, and support for sustainable transport financing mechanisms. Strategic corridors connecting Addis Ababa to cities like Dessie, Jimma, and Nekemte will receive new expressways, reinforcing the project’s role in national and cross-border trade facilitation.
