The Borana Resilient Water Development for Improved Livelihoods Program (Phase 2) is a major initiative in Ethiopia’s Borana Zone (Oromia Region) aimed at improving access to climate-resilient, gender-sensitive, integrated, and sustainable water and sanitation services for pastoralist communities.
- Development of groundwater sources (notably the Gelchet wellfield)
- Construction of main transmission lines from wells to reservoirs
- Building of command reservoirs (e.g., at Simu Hilltop near Yabello Town)
- Construction of motor houses, guard houses, and related facilities
- Water supply routes: Arero, Dubluk, Surupha, Elweya, Weib, Sarite-Sabba, and Wellfield Area routes
- Institutional capacity strengthening and integrated watershed management, including community-led soil and water conservation
