Kumasi Integrated Light Rail Transit (LRT) System, Ghana

The proposed Kumasi LRT is a modern light rail/tram system designed to alleviate traffic congestion in Ghana’s second-largest city. 

  • Rail Infrastructure: Tram tracks over public urban roads, with an estimated three to four main lines spanning across central and suburban Kumasi.
  • Rolling Stock & Systems: European-style electric trams supported by intelligent systems—including digital ticketing, modern signalling, diagnostics, and incident response tools—to ensure operational efficiency and safety
  • Stations & Urban Integration: Multiple stops along dense corridors; integration with feeder bus services and key transit points.
  • Training & Technology Transfer: Includes knowledge exchange to train local Ghanaian personnel at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST), supported by Czech partners
