Djibouti Ethiopia Fuel Railway Link, Djibouti-Ethiopia

This project extends the existing Addis Ababa–Djibouti Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) by adding a dedicated oil/fuel branch line. It connects the Awash Petroleum Depot in Ethiopia’s Afar region to the Horizon fuel terminal at Djibouti’s Port of Doraleh. The length is estimated to be 150–170 km.

  • Single-line standard-gauge track for heavy freight (fuel tankers)
  • Construction of tank platforms and loading/offloading infrastructure
  • Signalling, fencing, drainage, and structural civil works
  • Integration with rail and port operations at both ends
