The Msimbazi Basin Development Project in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, is an integrated infrastructure initiative focused on flood resilience, urban development, and environmental restoration in the flood-prone lower Msimbazi River Basin.
- Flood Control Infrastructure: Includes river channel improvements, recontouring of the flood plain, multi-level flood retention terraces, riverbank protection, sediment management facilities, and construction supervision.
- Resilient Transport Infrastructure : Upgrades to key transport assets such as widening and raising the Jangwani Bridge to handle flash floods, demolition and relocation of the Jangwani Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) depot to a flood-proof site, and improvements to roads and bridges to enhance hydraulic conveyance and connectivity.
