The Dar es Salaam Metropolitan Development Project Phase 2 (DMDP 2) is an infrastructure project to improve urban services, institutional capacity, and climate-resilient development in Dar es Salaam's metropolitan area.
The project involves upgrading approximately 250 kilometers of road infrastructure to tarmac (asphalt) standards across all five municipal councils of Dar es Salaam: Kinondoni, Ubungo, Temeke, Kigamboni, and Dar es Salaam City (formerly Ilala).
It includes the construction and rehabilitation of roads, flood control and stormwater drainage systems (about 300 km), solid waste management infrastructure, modern marketplaces, canals, and nine bus terminals.
