Project Pipeline

The Malawi Watershed Services Improvement Project (MWASIP) is a major initiative aimed at restoring degraded landscapes, improving watershed services, and enhancing rural livelihoods across Malawi. The project is designed to address severe land degradation, water scarcity, and the impacts of climate change, particularly in critical watersheds such as the Shire River Basin.

• Building small multipurpose dams and rainwater harvesting structures
• Developing small-scale irrigation schemes to improve water access for productive use
• Constructing rural feeder roads, bridges, and market centers to enhance market access and value addition, where required
• Supporting climate information services and the establishment of community-based monitoring systems for watershed management
