Dangote plans to build the largest seaport in Nigeria, to be located at Olokola Free Trade Zone (OKFTZ). OKFTZ is located near Olokola in Ogun state, about 100 km east of Lagos
The Olokola port will be built in stages and is expected to have a draft of 16 metres. It will include a service port for oil and gas businesses; bulk and break bulk loading and unloading quays; liquid jetties; a fully integrated container terminal (planned to become a hub in West Africa); and general cargo loading and unloading quays. The port is expected to provide an alternative to the congested ports of Lagos
In late July 2025, Aliko Dangote, founder and president/CEO of local conglomerate Dangote Group, said he had submitted an application to the government for the port's development, with the ambition of building Nigeria's largest deep seaport to facilitate the export of industrial and energy products
