(Also known as Banque de Développement des Etats de l'Afrique)
When it was created on December 3, 1975, the BDEAC was the culmination of the project to establish a Community Development Bank within the former Customs and Economic Union of Central African States (UDEAC), to serve as an additional instrument of economic integration. The five (5) founding states, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Gabon and Chad, were joined by Equatorial Guinea in December 1983.
Despite the transformation of UDEAC into the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) on March 16, 1994, the main role of BDEAC remained unchanged.
We are the financial arm of CEMAC in its ambition to make the economies of member states a vast integrated zone on industrial, commercial and social levels where development disparities will diminish.
