The National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) is a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament and is wholly owned by the Government of Zimbabwe. It operates in compliance with public sector regulations and is mandated to provide competitive bulk rail transportation services for freight and passengers. Founded in 1897, NRZ manages a rail network of 2,760 route kilometers with a 1,067mm gauge track. Strategically located, it serves as a key hub and gateway to the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) region. The NRZ network is linked to Mozambique via the Mutare/Machipanda border posts to Beira and the Sango/Chicualacuala route to Maputo. It connects to South Africa through Beitbridge, Botswana via Plumtree, and Victoria Falls to Zambia.
