The National Railway Office of Chad (Office National des Chemins de Fer du Tchad, ONFT) is the state-owned agency responsible for overseeing the development, regulation, and coordination of railway infrastructure and services in Chad. Operating under the supervision of the Ministry of Transport, ONFT is mandated to plan and manage the country’s rail transport strategy, including policy implementation, technical studies, institutional partnerships, and sectoral reforms. As Chad does not yet have an operational railway system, ONFT plays a central role in laying the groundwork for future rail connectivity, both domestically and regionally.
